Meet students from all over the world and discover different cultures. The university organizes numerous events to encourage exchange and integration. 2023 was the year of the European Capital of Culture Veszprém-Balaton, so the University of Pannonia has launched a new video series on the university's YouTube channel in the spirit of cultural diversity. The series focuses on international students preparing national dishes of their home countries. In the first season, we will travel the world, from Panama to China, via Iran. The series aims to promote cultural awareness and traditional gastronomy, as well as university life. During the cooking sessions, students share stories and memories of their homes and experiences in Hungary, and show viewers how to prepare national dishes using ingredients found in Hungarian homes.

Students can choose from nearly 50 types of training in addition to the theoretical courses offered by the Institute of Physical Education and Sport. The Institute prioritizes ensuring that everyone can find a suitable form of exercise based on their fitness level.

Physical education is a mandatory part of the curriculum: higher education vocational training students must complete two semesters, while bachelor’s students are required to complete four. At the master’s level, theoretical courses are recommended. Each semester, students must collect 20 participation signatures for physical education, but they have the flexibility to do so through a variety of sports offered by the university.

The university supports team sports, with rowing, volleyball, basketball, and futsal teams that students can join to compete in the Hungarian University and College National Championships (HUCNC). Additionally, through the Sport Club of Veszprém University, students have the opportunity to participate in competitive sports while representing the club.

The renovated gym is open to both students and university visitors, offering discounted entrance and seasonal ticket prices for students. It also serves as a venue for fulfilling compulsory physical education requirements. Equipped with a cardio room—including rowing and running machines, as well as a ski erg (ski simulator)—a CrossFit corner, refurbished exercise machines, a sauna, massage services, and a buffet, the gym provides a space for both physical activity and relaxation after a long day.

University Days of Veszprém (VEN)

While 1969 is widely remembered as the year of the moon landing, for most students in Veszprém, it marks the beginning of the University Days of Veszprém (VEN)! Launched as the first university festival of its kind in Hungary, VEN has since become the most defining tradition of student life at the University of Pannonia. Held every two years, this multi-month event features four student teams competing in various challenges, spectacular performances, concerts, a vibrant parade that engages the entire city, and culminates in the election of the Student Rector.

Faculties’ Ball

A cherished tradition that brings students, faculty members, and lecturers together in a festive setting. After the formal ceremonies, attendees can fully immerse themselves in the joyous atmosphere of the Faculties’ Ball, fostering friendships across different year groups and academic disciplines.

Balaton Regatta

The Balaton Regatta is one of the University of Pannonia’s most thrilling traditions. Each May, rowing teams composed of students and professors take to the sparkling waters of Lake Balaton to compete in an exciting race. With warm weather, sunshine, and an electric atmosphere, the event is a true highlight of the spring semester. Spectators can enjoy the competition while participating in various side activities and games, making it a memorable experience for all.

Freshers' Ball (Stork Ball)

Known as the Stork Ball, this event symbolizes the arrival of new students, much like the stork—a migratory bird returning to warmer climates. At the University of Pannonia, the beautifully decorated lobbies and vibrant energy ensure that first-year students feel right at home. The evening begins with the Freshmen's Oath, followed by a night of celebration and dancing until dawn, setting the stage for an unforgettable start to university life.
