Thirteen outstanding Hungarian IT professionals were recognized for their exceptional work by the Neumann Society and HUN-REN SZTAKI during the conference titled "Living Robots – From Surgical Robots to Robotic Dogs." Among the honorees were three faculty members from the University of Pannonia. At this prestigious event, the Society presented its traditional awards, which acknowledge the achievements of prominent researchers and educators in Hungarian IT. (Source: digitalhungary.hu)
Dr. Ákos Orosz received the János Kemény Award. Since 2001, the award has annually recognized young professionals under 35 who have achieved promising scientific results in IT, created notable IT-related works, or contributed to their realization.
Dr. Ákos Orosz is a faculty member of the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Pannonia and earned his PhD in 2023. His research focuses on optimizing technical systems, particularly designing sustainable industrial systems. He has authored over 60 scientific publications, and his work is applied in industrial settings, especially in energy networks and heat exchanger systems. Additionally, he mentors young researchers and IT students and is involved in organizing the Bakonyi Bitfaragó Bajnokság competition.
Dr. László Czúni was honored with the Tarján Memorial Medal. Since 1987, the Tarján Rezső Memorial Medal has recognized individuals who have achieved outstanding results in IT education, talent development, or the broad dissemination of IT knowledge.
Dr. László Czúni serves as the strategic vice dean and former acting dean of the University of Pannonia. He has led the Image Processing Research Laboratory since 2003. Previously, he worked as a research engineer at MTA SZTAKI (now HUN-REN SZTAKI). He is an active member of the Neumann Society's KÉPAF section and an organizer of KÉPAF conferences. His research spans image processing, pattern recognition, computer vision, visual information encoding, event detection, and motion analysis. He also excels in nurturing young talent.
Dr. Ferenc Bari received the Kalmár Award. Since 1979, the Kalmár Award has been presented to members who have achieved significant results in computer science or its applications.
Dr. Ferenc Bari is a research professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems at the University of Pannonia. For many years, he led the Institute of Medical Physics and Informatics at the University of Szeged and served as a board member of the NJSZT Biomedical Section, where he is now an honorary president. Alongside his decades-long, internationally recognized research at the intersection of technical and medical sciences, he has made substantial contributions to the education of medical and health informatics. He was also a tireless organizer of the Neumann Colloquia, a series of events with deep-rooted traditions inspired by László Kalmár's work.
