One of the world's greatest environmental challenges is proper waste management. While before the Industrial Revolution mankind produced hardly any significant waste, in the past hundred and fifty years the storage, disposal and recycling of industrial and household garbage has become one of the number one global problems. One need only think of the polluted rivers well-known from news reports, mountains of waste towering in urban landfills, or the Pacific garbage island to realize that the world needs to solve the issue of waste management as soon as possible in a more sustainable way. In Hungary alone, we produce more than 400 kg of waste per person every year, most of which is not recycled yet.

The solution to this global problem is complex: not only do we need to reuse and recycle products and packaging once we have produced in accordance with the principle of circularity, but we also need to strive to prevent and reduce waste. The recently published modules not only show what we can do at the level of the individual in order to cause the least possible environmental impact with our consumption, but also introduce us to the theoretical and practical issues of selective waste collection. They also provide useful information on industrial, community and backyard composting and discuss in detail how the recently introduced return system works.
Coca-Cola Hungary committed to sustainability and conscious consumption, which is why in 2023 it started developing an online curriculum series on the circular economy. Together with the current modules, the #énjövőm programme already deals with circularity and sustainability in six online, free-of-charge learning materials, providing registrants with understandable theoretical knowledge and useful practical advice. The University of Pannonia was the partner of the #énjövőm program in curriculum development.
Since 2018, Coca-Cola's Hungary #énjövőm educational platform has primarily provided learning materials related to self-knowledge and skill development. Today, however, the palette has widened: in addition to learning materials dealing with self-knowledge, time management, project management and business planning, legal, financial and tax-related learning materials have also been included among the online modules. In 2023, educational modules on the basics of the circular economy and in 2024 on the water and energy cycle were added free of charge. This path is continued by the recently published materials.
