Diplomats from the European Union were hosted by the University of Pannonia

A group of European Union diplomats dealing with cohesion policy visited the University of Pannonia. Hungary, which holds the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union, presented projects and developments to the diplomats from the Member States, the Council and the Commission, which are related to the activities of the Council working groups. The Cohesion Policy Task Force aims to coordinate policies designed to close the development gap between EU regions and make them as effective as possible.

During a three-day informal visit, the delegation members had the opportunity to explore key cultural and educational hubs in Hungary. Their itinerary included a visit to Pusztamiské, followed by a stop in the historic town of Balatonfüred, where they attended a detailed presentation on the European Capital of Culture project.

At the University of Pannonia, Dr. Szilárd Szentgyörgyi, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, provided an insightful overview of the city of Veszprém, highlighting the university's central role in the region’s academic and economic development. The delegation also toured several of the university's cutting-edge, EU-funded research facilities. These included a visit to the plastic injection moulding plant, where innovative plastic processing and recycling techniques are being developed, as well as the university's microreactor and Nanolab, which focus on advanced research in material sciences and nanotechnology.
