The University of Pannonia will host EFOTT 2023. As the university's seat, Veszprém, will be the European Capital of Culture next year. Culture will be a key theme at the festival, alongside values such as sustainability, sport and physical and mental health. The biggest festival for university students will take place from 12 to 16 July on Lake Velence.
The University of Pannonia is the leading higher education institution in Central and Western Transdanubia and the Lake Balaton region. Its seat, Veszprém, together with the Lake Balaton Region, will be the European Capital of Culture in 2023, so the fact that the university has successfully applied to host next year's EFOTT offers special opportunities.
"The European Capital of Culture title is an outstanding and unique opportunity to boost the cultural life, tourism and international relations of the region. Our aim is to showcase the diversity and values of our culture as the host of EFOTT 2023", says Dr. András Gelencsér, Rector of the University of Pannonia.
At the heart of the University's bid is the presentation of universal culture and all aspects of experience to festival-goers, with more than a hundred programmes and the participation of at least 200 volunteers. The UNIverzum will focus on values such as sustainability, digitalisation, sport and mental health, careers, healthy lifestyles and music.
Festival-goers can take part in drama workshops, a creative songwriting competition, a dance duel between young and old, make jewellery from waste - plastic granules, textiles, glass, etc., talk to psychology students about everyday mental problems such as gambling addiction, depression, stress, or cure their hangover with a massage and a good broth at recreation points.
"As the country's largest student festival, EFOTT gives a special place among its programmes to the presentation and promotion of universal culture and the opportunities offered by Hungarian higher education. We believe that the role of social experience and meaningful daytime programmes at the festival has become more important for young people in recent years. We are pleased to see that the University of Pannonia, as the host, shares the same values", says Dr. Gábor Lasztovicza, Managing Director of HÖOK Public Nonprofit Ltd.
Zsolt Csillag, Chancellor of the University of Pannonia, stressed that the University will indeed be at the centre of attention in 2023 with its exciting festivals and outstanding summer competitions. When we decided to compete for next year's EFOTT, we had in mind how "big it would be" if in the same year that Veszprém becomes the European Capital of Culture, when the University Days of Veszprém celebrate their 30th anniversary, Veszprém University Days will be a great pleasure and a great success, when the first SolarBoat World Cup race is held in Hungary - organised by the University of Pannonia - in Balatonalmádi, we could host the coolest and biggest student event in Hungary! " - added the Chancellor
In 2023, the biggest student festival will be held again on the northern shore of Lake Velence, in Sukoro, between 12-16 July.
