Student Success in Information Technology – PE ZEK Team Achieves Second Place

The Defense Innovation Research Institute hosted the "VIKI XR HCI HACKATHON 2024" competition on November 27 at the MOM Cultural Center in Budapest. The event brought together teams of young professionals and university students to compete in an exciting challenge. Representing the Zalaegerszeg University Center of the University of Pannonia, the PE ZEK team delivered an outstanding performance, securing second place. (Source: egerszegihirek.hu)

The VIKI XR HCI HACKATHON 2024 provided a thrilling opportunity for young talents to showcase their skills in XR technologies, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) design, with a particular focus on military applications.

Teams of 3-5 members could choose from three areas of focus:

• Optimizing the experience of an XR shooting simulation interface,
• Designing an intuitive XR interface to support the maintenance and operation of military vehicles,
• Creating a medical intervention user interface using mixed reality (MR) solutions to facilitate quick and informed decision-making in battlefield medical training or operations.

The Zalaegerszeg University Center team demonstrated incredible performance, securing second place in a highly competitive field.
